Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom. October is National Bullying Awareness Month. GCS students who experience or witness bullying can make an anonymous report to school officials using the STOPit web app at https://appweb.stopitsolutions.com/login or by downloading the STOPit app on any mobile device. Links to STOPit and incident reports are available on school and district websites and bookmarked on all student Chromebooks. Teachers and parents can assist students in submitting reports if they are too young to do so themselves. #StopBullying #BeKind

The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) is seeking input via a statewide survey on food availability to children during the summer months at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6Z9SYM9. The brief survey will be made available through the WVDE website from September 15- September 30.

The levy, which has been in place since 1974, funds school security; art and music programs; instructional supplies and allotments; capital improvements, facility maintenance and repairs; and personnel outside the school aid formula and maintain employee benefits. Forty-four WV counties have school levies in place. With approval of a 60% levy, Greenbrier County will rank 36th amonng those counties in taxpayer contribution to education. GCS reminds families that students who test positive for COVID-19 should remain in isolation for five full days from first symptoms, then wear a mask for days 6 - 10. Please contact your health care provider as any absence of 3 days or more will require a physician's note. Contacts do not have to quarantine, but if symptoms develop, testing is recommended. To request a free home covid test from our county office, please call 304-647- 6457.

Greenbrier County Schools welcomes our youngest learners to the 2022 school year! The first day of Kindergarten is Tuesday, September 6. The first day for Pre-K is Thursday, September 8. We can't wait to get an amazing year of learning and fun started!
