Also, just a reminder that yearbook order forms are due tomorrow.
Thanks and we hope you have a wonderful Spring Break.

This is just a reminder that we will be taking Spring pictures at Ronceverte Elementary School on Wednesday, April 9. Please do not send money at this time. Proofs and order forms will be sent home after Spring Break.
Also, yearbook orders are due on Friday, April 11. Yearbooks are $25 and checks should be made to Cardinal Photo. Any orders turned in after April 11 will be on a first come first serve basis.
Thank you and have a good evening.

Launched by the Academy of American Poets in April 1996, National Poetry Month reminds the public that poets have an integral role to play in our culture and that poetry matters. Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world, with tens of millions of readers, students, K–12 teachers, librarians, booksellers, literary events curators, publishers, families, and—of course—poets, marking poetry's important place in our lives.
GCS congratulates GEHS Poetry Out Loud school contest winner Gracie Campbell! Way to recite and represent! #PoetryMonth

The Pre-K classroom of Mrs. Muys and Ms. Sherri at Ronceverte Elementary turned into a "shelter" as students began their Pet Study with a "humane" adoption experience. A realistic Adoption Booth started their journey on Adoption Day where each child chose either a puppy or kitten to adopt.
As part of their journey, students named their pets, made them a collar, and began to bond with them. Over the next few weeks, students will continue to learn about domestic animal grooming, proper feeding, and veterinarian care. Ultimately, students will experience all the wonderful ways they can show love to their special pet friends!

Please note the following April & May school calendar reminders from GCS:
- April 14 - 18 / Spring Break (April 21 is now a school day)
- April 22 / Two-Hour Early Release for Faculty Senates
- April 25 / GCS Showcase of the Arts @ EGMS / 6 p.m.
- May 26 / Memorial Day Observed / No School
- May 30/ GEHS Graduation
- May 31/ GWHS Graduation

Ronceverte Elementary fifth-grade students chose a teacher or staff member as a person who made a positive impact on their time at our school. Students dyed t-shirts and created acrostic poems using their chosen teacher's name. We are so thankful for the positive impact our teachers make in the lives of our students!

This past week, Ronceverte Elementary hosted their first annual science extravaganza, Night of Discovery, under the direction of first-grade teacher, Nicki Wolfe. Parents and students were exposed to various scientific information along with experiments involving endothermic reactions, polymers, acids, and bases among other intriguing topics.
Participants learned about gases and had the opportunity to “hold fire” in their hands. Bill Nye, the Science Guy, states that, "Every question leads to new answers, new discoveries, and new, smarter questions." The next generation of scientists has been born and is actively engaged in exciting 21st century learning at Ronceverte Elementary School!
