Back to School 2021-2022
Welcome Back to School!
We are excited to welcome students back to full-time in-person learning for the 2021-2022 school year!
The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff continue to be our highest priority. Working in partnership with parents, students, staff to implement the protocols outlined in our Back to School Plan, we are committed to achieving our goal of maintaining safe school environments and keeping schools open full-time for the entire school year.
Thank you for the trust you continue to place in Greenbrier County Schools.
Mask Protocol Update
Due to data updates, the WVDHHR map color is sometimes adjusted retroactively, confusing the daily map-based mask protocol in schools. For this reason, effective November 26, 2021, Greenbrier County Schools will announce mask protocol for the following WEEK based on the updated map color each FRIDAY. The protocol for the next week will be communicated each Friday through SchoolMessenger and our Facebook page. As a reminder, masks are required for the following week when our county is in Red, Orange, or Gold. If the county is Yellow or Green, masks will be optional for the week. Masks must be worn on buses at all times per federal requirements.

GCS Weekly COVID Data
Data linked here is updated weekly. Scroll to the bottom of the page to select and view the current week's data. The COVID-19 mitigation plan for Greenbrier County Schools includes isolation of those who have tested positive for COVID and contact tracing and quarantine for those who have had a confirmed exposure incident. Quarantine separates an exposed person from the school population to allow time for monitoring for symptoms. Isolation is for those who test positive, separating them from others for 10 days during the contagious period of their illness. Quarantine and isolation are done in collaboration with our local health department, in compliance with their guidance and in accordance with the "Back to School" plan.
Remote Learning is not an option this school year and will be implemented only in the event of a state- or locally-mandated closure. GCS students have the option of attending full-time in-person learning or enrolling in our new Proximity Learning synchronous virtual learning option. To learn more about virtual learning, please contact Nancy Hanna at 304-647-6470 or Allyson Carr at 304-647-6486.
